Nan Rossiter, the author of “Promises to Keep” has written a captivating and memorable novel. The genres for this novel are Literary Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Romance and Fiction. The timeline for this story is set in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events. The author describes her characters as complex and complicated. I love that the author describes the animals that are in this story. The author discusses secrets, honesty, forgiveness, the importance of family, friends, love and hope.

Maeve works at a senior center, is wonderful with the residents, and loves her work. Maeve has just moved into her boyfriend, Gage’s home. Everything would be perfect if both of them were honest and didn’t keep secrets. Maeve has some secrets from her past that her family is not aware of either, but realizes that she will have to reveal them. Gage keeps certain things from Maeve. When the past meet the present, there will be major problems to deal with.

I appreciate that the author has some twists and turns with the characters and events that are really quite surprising. I would recommend this entertaining book to others.
