“Lie By The Pool” by Susan Walter is a captivating and suspenseful thriller with twists, turns, and unexpected surprises. The Genres for this novel are Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, Fiction, Crime, and Psychological thriller. If you look at the title “Lie By The Pool”, there are two meanings. One is to rest, and the other isn’t telling the truth, and both are written about in the book. Susan Walter vividly describes the landscape, scenery and her dramatic characters. I couldn’t put this book down, and finished it in one reading session. There are betrayals, secrets, lies, danger, and murders.
Bree is living out of her car and views a magnificent home with A Beverly Hills Address She is drawn to this home, and sneaks around the back and views a huge chaise lounge and pool house. She is so exhausted she falls asleep. Why is she obsessed and familiar with the house? Bree is an accomplished pianist, and has been giving piano lessons to survive.
Sophie, the absentee landlord discovers Bree, and seems to be very familiar with her, which confuses her. Sophie invites Bree to a Halloween party that will be at the house, and provides her with a costume, and some clothing, and food. Bree misses the loss of her husband Luke and does appreciate Sophie’s kindness. Sophie comes from a comfortable home, and wishes to be with the FBI.
After the party, Bree sneaks up to the bedroom, where she has a feeling of deja-vu. When Bree wakes up in the morning, she notices a body floating in the pool, that looks like it is wearing Sophie’s costume. Who is the suspect, and who is the victim?
I highly recommend this exhilarating and suspenseful thriller to others.
