Heather Hach, the Author of “The Trouble With Drowning,” has written an intense, suspenseful, twisted, and captivating novel. The Genres for this novel are Women’s Psychological Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, And Fiction. In the Preface, Heather Hach discusses mental illness and warns the readers, who might be sensitive to certain topics. I found myself glued to this book and read it in one sitting.

This book has twists, turns, manipulations, betrayals, and dangers. The author vividly describes her dark characters as complex, complicated, and flawed. Some are more obsessive, dysfunctional, toxic, and unbalanced. Kat works in a bookstore and writes a memoir of her life in foster care. She meets her roommate’s brother, Jacob, and becomes obsessed with him. Kat starts having mood swings and periods of violence when things don’t go her way. Jacob can’t deal with her possessiveness and manipulations, breaking their relationship off. Kat is in deep despair and attempts suicide. Carol saves her and brings her to the hospital. Kat is on medications but is still obsessed with Jacob and his life.

Kat is very bright, very obsessed with Jacob, and extremely manipulative. What follows is an intense and terrifying journey. I was startled at the ending. This is a unique and thought-provoking novel that I highly recommend.
