Landis Wade and Sarah Archer, the authors of “DEATH BY PODCASTING,” have written a clever, unique, and satirical novel. The genres for this novel are fiction, mystery, suspense, humor, and satire. This “spoof” of the publishing community shows the greed and manipulation of writers, publishers, podcasters, psychologists, bookstores, publicists., editors, and those involved in achieving a “best seller” based on a true crime. I appreciate how the authors show the unlimited extremes and motivations to reach one’s goals. The authors vividly describe the colorful and dramatic characters as complex, complicated, flawed, dysfunctional, and manipulative. The “names’ of the characters are especially witty.
Podcasters Raspy Fuse and Salty Remarks receive a warning that one of the three characters they will be interviewing intends to kill them. This has happened before, and Raspy and Salty try to seek out the “killer” and characters to avoid the “death” of their Podcast. This suspenseful and comical satire is a short, easy read with twists and turns. I recommend this clever book.
