Stephanie Mack, the author of “Suing Cinderellas” has written a captivating and intriguing novel. I loved this well-written, witty, and unique story where the protagonist decides to sue the enormous conglomerate Kingston ( similar to Disney) with images and representations of Fairy Tales and Magic promising women happily ever after endings. Scotland “Scottie” Holland grew up watching Kingston television and listening to stories about when her mother abandoned her when she was 6 years old. When Scottie is “jilted” at the altar, she is determined to go and fight. Scottie believes Kingston’s models and stories make a promise that can’t be kept.
The author vividly describes her dramatic and colorful characters as complex, complicated, good vs. evil, and flawed. The attorney representing Kingston met Scottie previously in a running competition, where they were placed as partners. He was using a different name. Both Scottie and “Harrison Hayes,” the defense attorney, have “sparks” between them. In court, it becomes a battle for what each believes in.
I couldn’t put this book down, and I highly recommend this memorable and thought-provoking novel to others. Happy Reading! I look forward to reading more of Stephanie Mack’s novels.
