Deborah Goodrich Royce the author of “Reef Road” has written a captivating, intriguing and intense novel. The genres for this novel are Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Contemporary, Crime and Fiction. The story takes place in Palm Beach Florida, and Florida. The story is told from the points of one character called “The Writer” and the other“The Wife”. The time line for the story is set in 2019 and 2020 during the shut-down by COVID. The story goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events.

The author vividly describes her dramatic, and dark characters as complex, complicated, and quirky. There are betrayals, psychological gaslighting, danger, disappearances, and murder. At the beginning of the story just a separated hand is found with a ring in a bag by two young boys. The boys aren’t aware that an older woman notices it.

The author discusses that crimes were committed by family members years ago, that now contribute to what is going on today. At the same time, the author mentions a “dark period” in Argentina, where babies were born, and mothers went missing. The author weaves these into the plot of the story.

I would highly recommend this dark, edgy, and thought-provoking thriller to other readers. There are twists and turns and some surprises.
