The protagonist, Neena Lee, 56 years old is a travel writer that has problems in the present. The news company has changed and wants a younger population to read and write. She has a last chance to write a special story on the Twenty Fifth Anniversary of John Kennedy Jr.’s death. Neena Lee is familiar with this time in history, and sets out to the special island to write this article. Recently, Neena Lee’s younger brother passed away after staying in her house. Neena Lee is also traumatized from the death of her mother twenty five years ago. Her relationship with her adult daughter is fragile, and Neena is subject to Panic Attacks.
Once on the island, Neena Lee is attracted to the ghost of John Kennedy Jr., who requests a special favor from Neena Lee. Neena Lee has the ability to see and hear him. In return, Neena Lee finds herself helping other people, and starts to realize that she has to help herself.
I appreciate how the author describes forgiveness, second chances, self-worth, determination, courage, and finding oneself. The author also mentions the importance of family and friends, love and hope. I highly recommend this unusual novel.
