Linda Zagon Shares Some Wonderful Memories

Hi Everyone,

I want to thank everyone who sent me prayers, motivation and get well wishes. I certainly like to think that’s what got my through on Thursday when I had a cardiac procedure. I was terrified. It probably wasn’t one of my finer moments, but I took a picture and asked for prayers. Actually, the picture of my selfie and the asking for prayers, is what got my son to keep me company, as he seemed to be forgotten in the waiting room. He brought the picture up to the desk, and mentioned that his mother had time for selfies and Facebook, so she must be ready. That gave the nurses and staff a chuckle and he was brought in. He also offered to assist, but that is a story for another day.

I have a picture of both a solid brass door knob from the school that I worked in and the picture of the school, that was known as PS 260 K. I was in Room 102, which faced a hot courtroom. The brass knobs seemed to disappear, and I am considered lucky that they had one to mark my retirement. Actually some of the best times of my life were here. Unfortunately P.S. 260 no longer exists. The building stands, but I believe it became a Charter school.

I do keep in contact with some of students, and Friday, one of my students, who always showed kindness and thoughtfulness to others contacted me through Facebook. He had the sweetest Mother, (May she Rest In Peace) who would pick him up at the end of the day. This child was a teacher’s “shining light” , curious, and absorbed and thought about everything. He certainly was a favorite.

He had been worried when he saw my post on Facebook, and wanted to make sure that I was okay. He told me that I was his favorite teacher, and he remembered when I would play the piano and we would sing. He also remembered when we would collaborate with the Kindergarten class across the hold. He mentioned his best memories, and both of us had to laugh.

I have to thank this wonderful 40 year old man for making me cry happy tears. I was so thrilled to know that I made the difference in the life of one child. I am not mentioning names to embarrass anyone, but I was so touched. I don’t know if I can explain that the children that teachers have touch their lives as well.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Love, Linda Zagon
