Kim Michele Richardson, the Author (and Book Woman) of “JUNIA” The Book Mule of Troublesome Creek” provides us with a captivating , intriguing and delightful picture book with illustrations by David C. Gardiner. Although this is a children’s book, I feel that it is for “CHILDREN OF ALL AGES”, including adults. The genres for this book are Historical Fiction, Children’s Books, Picture Books, and Fiction. Kim Michele Richardson is an amazing writer and storyteller, and I highly recommend her “adult” books, especially “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” and “The Book Woman’s Daughter”,both Historical Fiction.

I love how Kim Michele Richardson vividly brings to life “JUNIA” one special mule with an important job carrying the Book Woman through hills and woods in Troublesome Creek, Kentucky to ensure that the children and adults get free literary materials to read. Both the Book Woman and Junia depend on one another to accomplish this task through any kinds of weather. As a retired educator, I feel literacy is so important. There is a musical song that was written for this book, and it is extremely catchy. I highly recommend this memorable treasure of a book.
