Ginny Kubitz Moyer, the Author of “A Golden Life” has written a fascinating and captivating novel. The Genres for this novel are Historical Fiction, and Fiction. In this descriptive and well-written novel, the author writes about ‘The Golden “ period in Hollywood. The timeline is 1938, and the setting is mostly Hollywood, and the Napa Valley. The author vividly describes her dramatic and colorful characters as complex and complicated.

One of the female protagonists in the story, Frances Healey is running from her tormented past, and is now working for the Hollywood Producer, Lawrence Merrill. A golden rule to follow while working as a secretary in Hollywood is that you stay silent, and don’t repeat anything. Both Frances and Lawrence have their past secrets. Merrill is involved in the production of a major film depicting the life and story of Kitty Ridley. The lead actress, Belinda Veil, (Merrill’s girlfriend) has fought for this part. Everything seems wonderful, until Frances opens a letter from the real ninety year old Kitty Ridley, who is protesting the making of this film.

Both Merrill and Frances travel to Nappa Valley, where Kitty Ridley resides, to convince her what an important film this is. Somehow, many of the answers that the characters are questioning come into play.

I appreciate that the author discusses forgiveness, second and beginning chances, the importance of family and friends, loyalty, communication, love and hope. I highly recommend this memorable and thought-provoking story.
