“UNSAID”, by Author Maggie Cowan is an intriguing, suspenseful and captivating novel. The genres for this novel are: Psychological Literary Fiction, Women’s Psychological Fiction, Women’s Literary Fiction, and Suspense, Thriller and Mystery. The author describes her characters as complex and complicated. Eva and Norman Martin run a very successful family business, “Martin Manufacturing”, and have three children. Norman brings a stranger, Sidney Urquart, into the family business. Sidney’s needs and motives are to become a “member” of this family, and win Norman’s respect by creative ideas and making money. At times Sidney does take drugs.
Of course, Norman would like to see Troy, Alexa, and Jason successful in this business. Each of his children have their own ideas of what they want to do. At first, some tragic and strange things seem to happen to the family. Then dangerous and deadly things are happening. Things get out of hand, and both Eva and Norman want to protect their children and reveal the secrets and destructive actions, and the only way they think that they can do this is by “MAiD” which is to die by assisted suicide. This is a very intense and edgy novel, and I was sitting at the edge of my seat. There are twists and turns, and unexpected surprises, which will have the reader gasping. I highly recommend this psychological novel.
