Kudos to Barbara Davis, Author of “Every Precious and Fragile Thing” for writing such a captivating, intriguing, thought-provoking and memorable novel. In this well written and beautifully told story, the author vividly describes the landscape, scenery and the dramatic and colorful cast of characters. Barbara Davis has written a poignant and heartfelt novel about life and death. I appreciate that the author discusses forgiveness, second chances, the importance of communication, honesty, the importance of family, friends, love and hope. There are unexpected twists and turns, secrets and betrayals.
Mallory Ward is a Social Worker, specializing in at risk teenagers and young adults. After a tragedy, Mallory heads home to recharge and rethink her life choices. Mallory has been estranged from her mother Helen Ward. Helen is a end of life doula, and often brings her client’s cherished keepsakes home. This could be an opportunity for the two of them to reconnect. Only Helen has deep dark secrets that could destroy their relationship.
Mallory’s past haunts her in the present time. Her neighbor was once her fiancé, and his mother had caused many problems for them. The proximity and the years that have passed can change this relationship. Both Mallory and her neighbor could use a friend.
I was mesmerized by this story, and read it in one sitting. I highly recommend this unique and amazing story.
