Lauren Parvizi, the Author of “Trust Me On This” has written a captivating, emotional, complex, and heartfelt novel. A major issue in this well-written story is a matter of trust, and which characters are deserving of it. The genres for this story are: Fiction, Contemporary Fiction, Sister’s Fiction, Sibling Fiction, and Family Life Fiction. The author vividly describes her dramatic and colorful characters as conflicted, complicated and complex. The protagonists of the story are Zahra Starling and her estranged half sister Aurora. Zahra is a foodie interested in preparing meals from her Grandmother’s Persian recipes. She is serious and has a brooding personality. Aurora, is cheerful, trusting, charming and bubbly, and a rising Hollywood Star. Their shared sick father summons both of them to see him, and explains he has something important to tell them. Zahra has feelings of abandonment from her father, and has felt that Aurora was the favorite. Aurora’s mother is extremely controlling of her.

In this novel, there are twists and turns, betrayals, deep secrets, manipulations, scandals, and surprises. Zahra has a fear of flying on airplanes, and the only way that both girls can go together is through an extended road trip. This road trip will bring up issues of heartbreak, memories, and hopefully will give closure, honesty and truth so that there can be healing.

I was so involved that I didn’t want to put this book down. I appreciate that Lauren Parvizi discusses important issues such as trust, honesty, communication, forgiveness, second chances, sisterhood, the importance of family, friends, love and hope. I highly recommend this thought-provoking novel.
