Lori Foster, the Author of “The Guest Cottage” has written a captivating, memorable, and heartfelt novel. The Genres for this novel are Contemporary Fiction, Romance, Summer Reads, Fiction, and Friendship. In this well-written novel, Lori Foster vividly describes the nostalgia from summer memories, the landscape, scenery, and the colorful and dramatic characters. This reminds me of years ago, when I would catch fireflies, and then free them with my friends.I also have wonderful memories of being near the water, and catching sunrises and sunsets.
The female protagonist of the story, Marlow Heddings, arrives in Bramble, Kentucky for a fresh start. She rents a cozy, comfortable cottage with unbelievable lake views, and a landlord that makes her heart stand still. Marine Cort Easton is one of the neighborhood’s heroes. He is always around to help and assist. Her recently deceased husband had cheated on her, and Marlow hopes to start a new business away from her husband’s dysfunctional and manipulative parents.
Pixie, the other “woman” that her husband was with, shocks Marlow at the Guest Cottage with some surprises. Pixie is now twenty and needs help. Marlow makes new friendships. There are some twists and turns, and some troubling events that occur.
I appreciate that Lori Foster discusses the importance of family, friendship, forgiveness, love and hope. I highly recommend this thought-provoking and enjoyable novel.
