I loved everything about “Abigail and Alexa Save the Wedding” by Lian Dolan. What a delightful, enjoyable charming and witty novel! The Genres for this novel are: Fiction, Contemporary Fiction, Chick Lit, and Women’s Literary Fiction. I love this idea about the Mother of the Bride (MOB) and Mother of the Groom (MOG) finding common ground during the planning of the wedding. When Penelope and Chase announce their engagement, their mothers’ original reaction is less than enthusiastic.
Penelope’s Mom, Alexa, lives in California, is a single mother by choice and very successful in her business. Alexa has a special group of friends called “The Merry Widows”. Alexa was born and raised in Athens, and loves California. One of her best friends from college is an English Aristocrat. Alexa doesn’t understand why anyone would want to marry.
Chase’s Mother, Abigail lives in Connecticut, loves gardening, and is one step ahead of her husband in financial planning. Abigail likes to keep up appearances and would love to have the wedding in Connecticut.
The couple decides to have the wedding in California. Sudden possible events might dictate that the wedding will be off. Both Alexa and Abigail decide to work together, using all their resources to save the wedding. The Merry Widows add to both the confusion and excitement, and Abigail’s daughter is full of adventure and some ideas. This is such a heartfelt and humorous novel and I highly recommend this feel good novel.
