The front blurb on the. novel states “From the Author of “Miles in Time” comes the sequel, where the past holds the key to saving the future”.The Genres for this well written story are: Teen and Young Adult Time Travel, Teen and Young Adult Coming of Age, Teen and Young Adult Mysteries and Detective Stories, Adventure, and Fiction. I feel that this is a book for all ages.
The author vividly describes his colorful, and dramatic characters, plot, as well as the props and scenery.Miles and Simon Hardy are brothers, and live in a quiet town in Iowa. In the first book, both boys had used a time machine and had unusual adventures. When their mother is placed in a mental health facility, both brothers try to go back in time to 1999, to see if they can fix history. I especially enjoyed the music from 1999 that is mentioned, and I have recollections and memories of the times of my life then. The brothers discover that their mother had an abusive childhood, and get the opportunity to see the dysfunctional family. The boys also meet characters in 1999, who are not alive in present time.
Besides, the danger and uncertainty of time travel, they are dealing with a major foreign power wanting the time machine. There are threats, and murders, betrayals and secrets. I would highly recommend this thought-provoking series for others. If you could travel back in time via a time machine to fix something in your life, what would it be?
