I am a big fan of Jane Healey’s books, and I loved everything about “The Women of Arlington Hall by Jane Healey Author. This is an intriguing, suspenseful, and thought-provoking Historical Fiction Novel. The Genres are 20th Century Historical Fiction, 20th Century Historical Romance, Friendship Fiction, and Literary Fiction. The topics revolving throughout this novel are secrets, betrayal, espionage, loyalty, sisterhood, friendship Cold War Spies, Cold War Games and danger.
“The Women of Arlington Hall” is an extensively researched and engrossing- well written novel. Jane Healey vividly describes the timeline, the fashion, the scenery, the plot, and the dramatic, colorful, complicated and complex characters. Catherine Killeen, the female protagonist, has cancelled her wedding in favor of a challenging career for her future. She arrives in Virginia to work on a special, secretive military project. Catherine is student of cryptanalysis. and hopes to find Soviet spies that have infiltrated the United States. Catherine is sworn to secrecy. Catherine meets a male student that she knows, who has been her competitor. She also meets other women, and establishes a sisterhood, and has a means for socializing.
This is an edgy, suspenseful book with a cat and mouse feel. One wonders who the actual spies are working within the system. I highly recommend this memorable and insightful book for others.
