Mitch Albom goes above and beyond in vividly describing the colorful, dramatic, complex, complicated, quirky and relatable characters. The male protagonist of the story ,Alfie Logan has the ability and opportunity to “redo” something that has happened again, since he was eight years old. Unfortunately, he might have to deal with negative consequences.. Alfie does love animals, and one of my favorite moments to remember from the story is in Africa, when Alfie, played with Lallu, the elephant and Giana his friend. The two are best of friends.
In the present, Alfie is being arrested by a security detective for cheating and getting millions of dollars at a casino. While the detective is searching for witnesses and testimonies, Alfie asks him to read a notebook that has been written about his life. The detective has a hard time believing Alfie’s life stories, mistakes and do-overs. Alfie has a request, that before anything happens to him it goes to the “Boss”.
I was blown away by the epilogue, the twists and turns, and the events. I highly recommend this inspiring and challenging read.
