Brisa Carleton, the Author of “Last Call at the Savoy” has written a mesmerizing, unique and captivating novel. The Genres for this well written novel are : Historical Fiction, Sibling Fiction, Sister Fiction, and Historical London with a dash of Magical Realism. The author vividly describes the glorious Savoy Hotel in London, and the colorful and dramatic characters. Cinnamon Scott has accompanied her workaholic older sister, Rosemary to the Savoy Hotel in London, where Rosemary is waiting to give birth to twins. Both sisters had lost their parents in a tragic accident that haunts them . Originally Cinnamon was going to be a writer, and Rosemary became successful. Now Cinnamon is more of a free spirit, but seems to be on a quest to find her true self. At the Savoy’s bar, Cinnamon meets a handsome Historian, who is looking to write about the Savoy. At the same time, Cinnamon listens to stories told by the night bartender about a woman, Ada Coleman, who was able to make some wicked drinks. She was one of the first women bartenders. There is a book with many of her recipes without giving her the acknowledgment. Cinnamon is determined to find out why Ava was left out of the history of the Savoy, and at the same time put her back into history.

Cinnamon also finds herself helping her big sister, and perhaps in the process finding her true self. I appreciate that the author discusses the hidden mystery of a woman bartender, relationships of sisters, forgiveness, self-worth and discovery, and love and hope. I highly recommend this thought-provoking novel.
