Isla Thorne, the protagonist in the story is obsessed with finding her dearest friend Eden, who disappeared years before. Isla had been an orphan, and Eden and her mother had helped Isla. The last time Isla saw Eden was when she disappeared after going to seek out the Corrigans a very important and powerful family in Virginia. Isla has been tracking the family and looking for a way to get information about her friend. Isla acts as a journalist to get information about the very successful father, Victor Corrigan, the head of a huge company. It is a bumpy and edgy road to discovery that Isla is on to seek the truth. Is Eden really who she said she was?
This is a story where I was sitting at the edge of my seat, and biting my nails. I was waiting for the unthinkable to happen. The Corrigan family is toxic and unpleasant. Isla should sleep with one eye open. I was truly surprised by the challenges presented and the climatic ending of the story. I highly recommend this suspenseful, memorable and thought-provoking novel.
