Susan Furlong, the Author of “Amish Country Homicide” has written an intense, intriguing and suspenseful novel. In this well -written psychological thriller and mystery, the author vividly describes the Amish community and the dramatic characters. The characters are complex, complicated, flawed, and some are suspects. The female protagonist Alena Walsh returns home to see her grandfather shot by a disguised man. Before her grandfather dies, he tells Alena some truths and past secrets that change Alena’s world forever. The Sheriff, Caleb Mast, is a former Amish friend and both are trying to find the killer/killers. Recently in this small town, there was a murder of a young woman. Alena is reminded that her mother was killed many years ago. There are several attempts to scare and hurt Alena, and Caleb is having a difficult time keeping her safe. There are old secrets, betrayals, attacks, danger, and murder. The Amish life and the more modern life make things difficult, and Alena and Caleb are attracted to each other. This is an edgy, intense, twisted psychological suspense and mystery thriller that I highly recommend that you read.
