HEATHER: First, let me say thank you so much for inviting me! I always love the opportunity to chat with readers who may not be familiar with my books.

Linda : 1. Your new release,”SOMETHING LIKE FAMILY” hit the stores on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. How are people reacting to it?

HEATHER: I’ve been overwhelmed at the response! I think part of the reason is because I became so connected to the characters. I feel close to them, protective in a way. Knowing people are embracing their story has made me so happy!

Linda:  2. Can you tell us a little bit about your journey as an author?

HEATHER:  I don’t remember a time when I didn’t think myself as a writer, even back in elementary school!! I’ve always loved writing. But I became serious about finishing a novel in 2006. I would start so many. It was time to write a final chapter and the words THE END.  I completed my first book that year and went on. Now, I have a total of 9 novels in print in the United States and several foreign editions. It’s surreal.

Linda:  3. What do you like to read?

HEATHER:  I love sweeping women’s fiction novels. Family dynamic, sometimes quirky characters, and a life filled with purpose. But, honestly, I will read anything from any genre if it grabs my attention.  If the writing is stellar or if the story is compelling……..I’m hooked!

Linda:  4. You write a lot of older characters. Why?

HEATHER: There is a certain nostalgia that comes from writing older characters. I love the richness and wisdom of aging characters.  I believe there are fantastic stories to be told about those sweet grandma and grandpa types.  But I have lots of younger characters for balance. A good story is like your favorite warm blanket on a cold night.  It always brings comfort and it always makes you feel a bit more grounded and settled. A good book is like a trip to Grandma’s house.

Linda:  5. There’s always a love story of some type in your books. Young love, old love, unrequited love. Why this theme?

HEATHER: We  live in such an instant gratification society.  We’ve lost the art of pursuit. A love story– at its most intriguing level– is about the hunt.  We want to linger in those feelings and anticipations with the characters.  We want to– in a small way be tortured by it. A perfect love story should create an unforgettable ache within out souls.  It is a deep need to connect on a human level. I’m a big believer in love!! And happy endings.

Linda; Thank you so much Heather Burch for sharing wonderful intriguing information about yourself with your readers.

HEATHER: Thank you and the wonderful readers so much for the opportunity to share  information, and chat. If you have any questions, please contact me.
