Clare Mackintosh, Author of “After the End” has written a poignant, emotional, intense, captivating, and thought-provoking novel. The author mentions that she wrote this story after she and her husband had similar issues, but the Genres for this Novel are Fiction, and Women’s Fiction. The author writes about her characters with compassion and shares their problems and emotional journey with the reader.
From the blurb, the reader knows that Max and Pip are a solid couple, but are given news that no parent ever wants to hear. Their 3-year-old son is sick, and both parents disagree on what the right thing is to do.
Clare Mackintosh writes in two points of view after the decision is made. What happens if one thing happened and if the alternative happened?
The author does discuss the importance of family, friends, emotional support, love and hope, and “sometimes after the end ” there is a chance for a new beginning. Clare Mackintosh wrote a book that tugs at my heartstrings. I recommend this novel for those readers that like a thought-provoking book.
