Linda’s Book Obsession Reviews “Witness Protection Widow” by Debra Webb, Harlequin Intrigue, 1/9/20

Debra Webb, Author of “The Witness Protection Widow” has written a suspenseful and exciting story.  The Genres for this novel are Fiction, Romance, and Suspense. The timeline for this story is set in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events. The author describes her characters as complex and complicated.

Allison James is in Witness Protection and will be the main witness against her father-in-law’s crime family if she can stay alive. Her deceased husband that Allison was married to for 5 years leaves her with traumatic memories. This family is ruthless and lets no one stand in their way.

One of the US Marshals assigned to Allison’s case is Jaxson Stevens. Jaxon and Allison had a relationship ten years before that almost led to marriage. At first, Jaxson is concerned if he can adequately protect Allison, because of his feelings for her. Allison has feelings for Jaxson as well and is afraid he will get hurt.

There is tension and edgy suspense, as the couple has to relocate several times. There is almost a cat and mouse feel to this. I was disappointed that the story ended so abruptly. I expected more of something, and it just wasn’t there. I would recommend this intriguing story for readers that like a suspenseful story.
