Linda’s Book Obsession Reviews “Real Estate Rescue” by Tracy McLaughlin, Mango, April 2020 for Suzy Approved Book Tours
Tracy McLaughlin and Kevin Lake, Authors of “Real Estate Rescue have written an intriguing, informative and helpful book. This is really a great “how-to” book, providing not only statistics but pictures and examples of ways to sell your home, and buy your new home. The author/s mention that updating your home every 10 years to meet the market’s demand is beneficial. Most new younger buyers want the keys and want to move in. Today’s buyers are not usually interested in renovating.
There are statistics of the neighborhood, and the housing market that most people have access to, but the author/s feel that the professional expertise is key in getting a return and profit. Important is staging, repairing, and renovating, the inside structure, doorway, and landscape.
Recently, my husband and I have thought about selling our home, so I was really drawn to many of the suggestions and ideas in this book. Realistically some of the suggestions are not as practical as I wish they could be. For one, I have no control that the next-door house was a foreclosure, and the corner house sold way under market value because of a divorce situation, on a cul-de-sac of 7 homes which would affect pricing my home. There have also been necessary things that “pop” up that need attending too, rather than cosmetically spending the money to update other things I would like to have done. In other words, I have had to spend money on things that were necessary to do, rather than what I have wished to do.
I would recommend this helpful and interesting book for those to get an idea of what the market is like.
