Gina Troisi, the author of “The Angle of Flickering Light” has written an intense and intriguing memoir. The genres for this novel are also biography and codependency. The author describes her dysfunctional family upbringing, and psychological trauma. The author’s father shared his sexual encounters with his daughter from when she was about 5 years old. His episodes of cheating and ultimately divorcing her mother were to say the least unsettling.
Gina’s father and new “Stepmother” were emotionally abusive and left Gina with many questions that she had for her life. The author describes her attraction to some men who had addictive personalities and did drugs, such as heroin. The only truly positive person in her life was her grandfather, who seemed to guide her.
I appreciate the author for sharing her emotional and thought-provoking journey with us. I recommend this memoir for other readers.
