Kathleen Basi, the author of “A Song For the Road” has written a memorable, poignant and thought-provoking novel. The genres for this novel are Fiction and Women’s Fiction. The timeline for this story is set in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters and events. The author describes her characters as complex and complicated. I love the way the author vividly describes the importance of music, mood and memory.
Life is too short. No one knows that better than Miriam Tedesco, who has lost her husband and twins in a tragic accident. Miriam is playing the piano in the church where her husband and Miriam, had worked, and suddenly she realizes that she is losing herself. Miriam is full of conflict, anxiety and guilt and has to do something. Miriam has been holding back a deep secret.
Both Miriam and her best friend notice in the computer a link from her daughter and son about a trip that she should go on. Miriam is determined to follow her heart and the clues to something she has to do. She takes several instruments and hits the road. Miriam doesn’t realize that on this road trip, she will learn about forgiveness, second chances, the importance of family and friends, love and hope. Miriam knows that there is a time to grieve, and a time to learn to live again. I would highly recommend this emotional read.
