Kitty Johnson, the author of “Five Winters” has written a heartfelt, compassionate, and delightful novel. This novel is a December “First Reads” selection on Amazon.The genres for this novel are Contemporary Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Chick-Lit, and Romance. The timeline is set in the author’s present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters and events. Being an animal lover, I would like to add that the author has added animal interests as well. The author describes her colorful characters as complex, complicated, flawed, and quirky.
Beth Bailey has been in love with her best friend’s brother, Mark forever. When Beth’s parents passed away, she stayed with Mark’s family as well as her aunt. She thinks of Mark’s family literally as her family. Beth is currently working in a Vet’s office, and realizes that she has to move on with her life when Mark gets married.This proves almost impossible, especially when the family gets together for traditional celebrations.
The author describes some unique, witty dates, and relationships that Beth is involved with. Beth is very likable, and I certainly empathize with her character. More than anything, 35 year old Beth would like to have a baby, and the clock is ticking. I would highly recommend this heartfelt novel.
