Leanne Treese, the Author of “Fun Lessons,” has written a playful, delightful, and enjoyable novel. The genres for this novel are Contemporary Fiction and Romance. I love the author’s colorful and vivid description of her characters. The two main protagonists in this story are complex, complicated, quirky, flawed, and likable.
Rebecca Chapman has a beautiful voice but feels like the black sheep in her accomplished family. Rebecca is still in a gap year in college, and this is her second year. Her dream is to win a musical competition. To win this, she has to learn how to play an instrument.
Ian Ledger is on time out with his girlfriend because she feels he is stiff and not fun-loving. Ian is an excellent guitar player. Rebecca and Ian meet on a bus and seem ambivalent about each other. As fate would have it, Ian works for several weeks at Rebecca’s company. The two strike a deal: Ian will help Rebecca with guitar lessons for her competition, and Rebecca will give Ian lessons to have fun so he can be with his girlfriend.
This is an entertaining and excellent book that I highly recommend. I appreciate the author discussing different lifestyles, diversity, self-worth, and the importance of family, friends, love, and hope. Also mentioned is having dreams and goals and working hard towards making them come true.
