Marina Scott, the Author of “My Darling Girls” has written an intense, horrific, captivating chilling thriller. The Author vividly describes the scenery, landscape, plot, and the dark, dramatic, twisted, complicated and complex characters. This is a novel with secrets, betrayals, twists and turns, ghostly appearances and experiences, dangerm and murder. Is what you see, really seems like what you see? After Jo’s, husband death, she takes over his photographic studio, and starts taking pictures of recently departed, dead people. In that time in history there were photographers that posed deceased people and photographed them for family members. Jo is a woman, which is usually not the case. A Criminal Family uses Jo to take pictures of a deceased family member. Jo has troubling and tragic secrets, and ghost like voices are calling to her, just like spirits. Millie, the deceased family member is calling out to Jo, to find out who killed her, and in exchange will give Jo the information that she needs to live peacefully.
Jo has tried to escape by using Opium. Jo starts to form relationships with some of the family members. Often, Jo is called to the “COURTYARD” where the dead torment her with their stories. Warning, try not to read this before going to bed! I appreciate that the Author discusses forgiveness and second chances. I recommend this intense, shocking, horrific book.
