Alison Ragsdale, the author of “Dignity and Grace” has written a memorable, thought-provoking, captivating, bittersweet, intriguing a poignant novel. The genres for this novel are literary fiction and fiction. The author describes her characters as colorful and dramatic characters as complex and complicated. The themes in this novel deal with death with dignity, secrets, second chances, forgiveness, hope, living, and love. The protagonist in this story Iona is on a quest for the truth. I love that the story has the essence of music and art

Iona receives a letter from her father on her 21st Birthday from her deceased mother, Grace. Grace was a professional cellist. Iona is about to go on a journey to learn about her mother’s life and death. Along the way, Iona meets people that are important pieces of the emotional puzzle that Iona must solve. I love the way that Alison Ragsdale vividly describes the details of this amazing story. I would highly recommend this emotional and unique novel.
