Janet Ake, the author of “Her Beautiful Mind” has written a poignant, unique, memorable, captivating and thought-provoking story. The genres for this story are Fiction, Contemporary Fiction, Romance and Adventure. The story takes place mostly on the Appalachian Trail. The author describes her dramatic and colorful characters as complex, complicated, brave, courageous, and quirky. I love the way that Janet Ake visually describes her characters, events and the scenery. This is a novel about love, hope, growth and self-acceptance.
Ariella Dobbs, the protagonist in this story struggles to fit in with her contemporaries. Ariella is uber intelligent can figure out most mathematical and scientific equations with her “beautiful mind” She is most comfortable by herself, and especially loves the trails and hiking on the Appalachian Trail. After what she believes is the ultimate betrayal, Ariella goes on the adventure of a lifetime. She sets out to hike and meets her cousin, who emotionally supports her. Ariella also meets some intriguing characters.
As Ariella proceeds and struggles on her adventure, she starts to discover and appreciate the special qualities that she has. I would recommend this wonderful book for other readers.
