Jessica Hamilton, the author of “What You Never Knew” has written an intense, intriguing, chilling, captivating and edgy novel. The genres for this book are mystery, suspense, thriller and fiction. The timeline for this story is set in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters and events. There are lies, betrayals, secrets, danger, and murder. . The story is set on Avril Island, named for April Bennett given to her as a wedding present by her husband. The author describes her dramatic characters as complex, and complicated. Each and any of the characters seem to be suspect of any or all crimes. Actually the narration is told by one sister that is alive and one sister that is dead.

June Bennett is the only surviving Bennett, is shocked to find out after her sister’s death that she has inherited Avril Island. June had been told by her mother that it had been sold. The island is surrounded by a forest, and also is rumored to be haunted. There is a history of violence, disappearances, and possibly murder. June also finds herself locked in a room, and strange things are happening.

The longer June stays at Avril Island, the shorter her life may be. The childhood memories that June had, have become a nightmare.

I would highly recommend this chilling thriller for readers who enjoy a dark story! Keep the lights on, and perhaps think if you should read this before you go to bed!!
