Hannah Abbott is thirty, and loves her low-paying job as a journalist. She has loyal friends, and a boyfriend that she is ambivalent about. What Hannah does need is health insurance so she can check out a bad knee. Her job doesn’t provide the insurance. Hannah is sent white carnations that she loves, but doesn’t know who sent them.
The day after her birthday, Will Thorne, a friend from college, knocks on her door, with a reminder of a pact they made years ago. The pact was if they were not married when they were 30, they would keep their pact. Will also has some reasons he wants to get married. Hannah realizes that Will does have insurance. Both decide to try it for some time, and make a list of things that are important, especially friendship. Now they have to convince family and friends why they rushed to get married, without explaining more details than necessary.
