Lindas Book Obsession Reviews “Far Gone” by Danielle Girard, Thomas & Mercer, 2021 On Tour With Suzy Approved Book Tours
Wow! Danielle Girard, the author of “Far Gone” has written a chilling thriller filled with intrigue, suspense, and mystery. This is one book that I took no breaks for, and I read this in one sitting. This is the second in a series, but can be read alone. The genres for this novel are thriller, mystery and suspense, domestic drama, and fiction. The timeline for this story is set in the author’s present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters and events. The story takes mostly place in North Dakota. The author describes her dramatic characters as complex and complicated. Many of the characters could be suspects to any crimes in this twisted horrific story. There are betrayals, ( OMG!!!),(Really, whom can you trust?), twists and turns, danger, threats, lots of blood, murder, gaslighting and a chase. I highly recommend this thought-provoking and edgy novel. There are deep secrets, and many things that seem to be happening are connected to other major cases, past and present.
The story begins with a double horrific murder. There is a teenage girl. the babysitter, that is on drugs, and trying to keep her wits, hiding in the closet, that is witness to what is going on. She manages to rescue the infant, call 911, takes a car and knows to look for help.
At the hospital, there is a tremendous amount of activity. The dead bodies are brought in, and one of the nurses finally takes a break. The young girl manages to get the infant to the nurse, never dreaming that the two are somehow connected. The Police and detectives become quite involved. DNA and other forensic tests continue to provide many shocking details. It makes me wonder, “Just how far people will go” This is a perfect title.
Danielle Girard has managed to vividly describe many of the characters and events! I didn’t see many of the things that occurred happening, and I have to say this is one memorable, chilling thriller!!
