Teresa Sorkin and Tullan Holmqvist, the authors of “Lacie’s Secrets” have written a captivating, intense and suspenseful psychological thriller with deep secrets, twists and turns. The genres for this book are psychological thriller, para normal, ghost thrillers, gothic fiction and mystery and suspense. I love that the authors vividly describe the location in Maine, “Villa Magda”, and add such an eerie and foreboding atmosphere. It almost feels like “Villa Magda” has a literal character all of its own. If only a house could speak. But then, maybe it does.
The authors describe the dramatic characters as complex, complicated, dark, suspicious, secretive and possibly unbalanced. Kate Williams, her husband and son return to Villa Magda, soon after the death of her mother. Kate had been obsessed with years from the disappearance of her sister Lacie, and has avoided returning to the home. With some friends, they visit, to get the house in order to sell, and also celebrate Kate’s Birthday,
The old house, built by Kate’s great grandfather to show his love for his wife, seems to have strange noises, bats, dark secrets, hidden passageways, threats and danger. Kate has a memory loss of what had actually happened to her sister, and her dark secrets seem ready to surface and change everything. Lacie also has some very dark secrets. The town people seem to be suspicious and have thoughts of what happened years ago. There is gaslighting, threats, seemingly para-normal activity, betrayals and worst of all, murder. I would highly recommend this psychological thriller for other readers.
