Miranda Liasson, the author of “Sea Glass Summer” has written a charming and delightful novel about friendship, family, motherhood, and second chances. This is the second book in the Seashell Harbor series, but can be read as a stand alone. After reading “Sea Glass Summer” I purchased the first book and look forward to the next book in the series. I also confess to crying “happy tears” at the end of the story.

The genres for this novel are Friendship Fiction, Woman’s Domestic Life Fiction, Fiction, and Romance. There is also a splash of humor that can be seen throughout the novel. The story takes place by a beach town, Seashell Harbor. I love the way the author vividly describes the beautiful ocean waves, the homes, and the rest of the scenery as well as the characters.

The colorful and dramatic characters are complex and complicated. There is a lovable dog and some kittens that certainly earn points from me!! Also, there is an adorable five year old boy, who is determined, and doesn’t give up easily!! Kit Blakemore has had enough tragedy in her life. Her military husband passed away, and Kit is bring up her 5 year old son the best that she can. Her support system is two loving parents, and two amazing friends that are always there for her. Kit’s husband’s best friend Alex has come back to town to keep his promise to look after Kit and her son. Alex also feels responsible for her husband’s death.

Kit wants to move on with her life, and make changes that take courage. Both Kit and Alex are attracted to one another, but are fearful of moving forward. Both have to learn to make peace with the past in order to move on. I appreciate that the author discusses the importance of family, and friends. I highly recommend this heartwarming story to other readers.
