Margot McMahon, author of “If A Tree Could Talk” has written a combination memoir and historical fiction book that is heartfelt, and unique. One of my favorite parts of the book are the artistic illustrations and pictures that are shown. The author describes her curiosity of her family “roots” and “secrets”. At one point when her mother was alive she wanted to know why the family had gone to Spain. Her father was an artist that would tell the events through his art, and her mother also would add to many stories. The author was the seventh of many children. The author describes in vivid detail her mother’s and father’s risky adventures.
Margot McMahon, also sculpts and paints and mentions how each of her siblings at one point each had their own painting studio attached to their rooms. Her parents were into many environmental causes. I found this to be intriguing and memorable, and would recommend this to other readers.
A combination of memoir and historical fiction sounds like an interesting book! I’ll look for it.
