Karen E. Osborne, the author of “Tangled Lies” has written an intense and suspenseful novel. The genres for this novel are Mystery, Thriller, and Suspense. The timeline for this story is set in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the events and characters. The author vividly describes her colorful and dramatic characters as complex and complicated, greedy, socially dysfunctional, and flawed. There are betrayals, lies, threats, danger, and murder.
Vera Moon comes home to find that her son Charlie has been violently murdered. Vera is determined to find the murderer and get justice. As Vera is driving with her daughter, another driver seems to charge towards her and causes an accident. A young woman, Dani witnesses the deliberate crash and goes over to help. Dani has problems in her life and was planning to leave many of her problems behind. Dani often embellishes the truth or tells lies that she feels won’t hurt anyone.
Vera and Dani join forces to find out what is going on. Why would someone kill Charlie, and then try to hurt Vera and her daughter? Different characters provide information and clues to why this is going on. It is very difficult to differentiate the truth from the lies. In addition, there are threats and constant danger.
The search for truth and justice could very well be the death of Vera and Dani. There are twists and turns. There is a cast of characters that are suspect. I highly recommend this suspenseful book to others.
