Wow! Danielle Girard the Author of “Pinky Swear” has written a captivating, intriguing and intense novel. The Genres for this novel are Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, Adventure, Friendship and Fiction. In the well-written thriller, the Author vividly describes her dark and dramatic characters as complex, complicated, flawed, obsessed, mysterious and suspect. There are betrayal, secrets, danger, threats, physical attacks, and death. I was chewing my nails.(certainly not a great habit) and was seated at the edge of my seat. I enjoyed how Danielle Girard slowly describes the plot, and the pace exhilarates, and the suspense intense action plays out.
The author first describes three friends from school, Cara, Lexi, and Mara. They are “pinky swear “ friends, and keep a notebook/diary together. There is a tragedy and Cara passes away. Lexi doesn’t hear from Mara for years. Many years later, Mara visits Lexi. Mara accounts for the past years, and tells Lexi that she is running from an abusive husband. Lexi has wanted to have a baby more than anything, and Mara agrees to be the surrogate mother. Everything seems promising, until Mara is almost ready to give birth and disappears. Lexi is frantic and determined to find Mara, and the baby that will be born. Lexi follows some clues that lead her to a dangerous and unexpected path. The Police have to be called in to aid with the search. Lexi learns that Mara hadn’t told her the truth, and isn’t the person that Lexi once knew.
As Lexi continues to search for both Mara and the baby, she meets interesting and unusual characters that Mara had been with. There are twists, turns, surprises, violence and danger. I would highly recommend this intense novel.
