Judy Lannon, the Author of “Back to the Cape” has written a memorable, captivating, and intriguing novel about friendships and family. The Genres for this novel are : Contemporary Literary Fiction, Women’s Literary Fiction, Women’s Domestic Fiction, Romance, and Fiction. Judy Lannon vividly describes the beautiful scenery, the plot and the colorful and dramatic characters. I love that the author has incorporated saving, rescuing and finding homes for dogs. Some of the dogs have their unique personalities. The characters are complex, complicated, flawed, dysfunctional, and each one seems to have their own problems to work out.

The main characters meet at Cape Cod, when Ordelle Snow, passes away. Ordelle Snow was the father of the dysfunctional and estranged family. There are memories, secrets, and betrayals at The Cape. The brothers and sister/s meet to hear the will and make arrangements for their deceased father. When the will is read, there is one unexpected surprise. The stipulations of the will are difficult. Ordelle Snow, was a complicated, dismissive and angry father. He favored one son, and unfairly burdened him with hurtful information. Ellenor, the sister, is glad to get support from her other two friends, Emma and Esme. The trio were known as the three “E’s ” when growing up. The family will have to deal with the secrets, betrayals, heartbreak, and learn forgiveness and second chances for a peaceful present and future.

The author mentions AAA and other emotional support groups for addictions, and also discusses the importance of family, friendships, compassion, empathy, honesty, love and hope. I highly recommend this thougt-provoking story.
