Kudos to Jacqueline Friedland, Author of “Breathing Under Water” for writing such an extraordinary, powerful, memorable, heartfelt, and thought-provoking novel. I always love Jacqueline Friedland’s books. In “Breathing Under Water”, Jacqueline Friedland writes about emotional relationships with family, and close friends. The author is not shy when she writes about family struggles, and being able to survive. I appreciate how the author writes about balance and sacrifice. Sometimes being a caregiver and helping, also means that you need help. The author vividly describes her dark, and colorful characters. The characters are complex, complicated, and each dealing with their own sets of circumstances and problems. I love that the author discusses important issues, such as autism, ageism. health problems, and discrimination. Often women have to deal with problems that men avoid. Women often have to struggle with jobs and family related issues. Often these problems cause stress and health issues for women. I highly recommend this insightful and thought-provoking book. I certainly can relate to overwhelming issues that women face. It was wonderful to see the growth and independence of one of the characters.
