Lucille Garino, the Author of “Smokey Blue Sunrise, A Return to Elizabeth’s Mountain” has written an emotional, thought-provoking and inspirational novel. The genres for this well thought out novel are: Sibling Fiction, Contemporary Literature and Fiction, Small Town Romance, Mystery and Suspense and Fiction. I appreciate how Lucille Guarino describes the gorgeous scenery, and the dramatic and colorful characters. The characters are complex, complicated, flawed, each having their own set of problems. Jolie-Mae Buckley hasn’t gotten over her sister’s death from two years ago. Jolie blames herself for the accident that killed her sister. Jolie didn’t feel well after taking a drink that was meant for her sister, and her younger sister takes over at the car, and there is a tragic accident. Jolie ‘s ambitions were to be a physician, but at this point in time, she leaves home to become a Nanny to Jesse and Amanda’s children. Jesse has the feeling that inside Jole, is a big secret.
Jolie is in therapy, and has to work very hard to let go of the past, and move on. When a horrific storm hits, the area, Jolie is tested again. I appreciate how the author stresses the importance of therapy, self-acceptance and self-worth, having an emotional support system of friends, family, and neighbors. The author discusses second chances and forgiveness. I enjoyed and highly recommend this thought-provoking story.
