Naomi Rand, the Author of “Goodbye to Me” has written an intriguing and captivating novel. The Genres for this novel are Mystery, Suspense, Adventure, Women Sleuths, and Murder. The author vividly describes New York in 1968, the plot, and the dramatic, dark characters. The characters can be described as complex, and complicated. In this twisted and complex nobel there are secrets, betrayals, danger, corruption, threats and murder. One of the female protagonists, Freddie Riley, 22 is a Bicycle messenger, and arrives home to find a strange man that is dead, and also her foster mother Yvette, bleeding on the floor. Before Yvette expires, she whispers something to Freddie. The Police arrive and as soon as she can, Freddie goes to her best friend Celia’s house. Someone at the crime scene has released pictures to the newspaper, and some of the Police also do not seem credible. Freddie has no clue to why Yvette is dead, who would want Yvette dead, and who this strange man is. Accidentally Freddie has picked up the dead man’s wallet, which has money and identification, but keeps it to herself.
Freddie realizes that someone is after her, and both she and Celia try to discover what is going on. They don’t trust anyone or the Police. Freddie is courageous, and knows how to survive, so she and Celia have to stay one step ahead of the criminals. Both women hope to solve the murder mystery, before it becomes deadly to them. I recommend this fast paced adventurous mystery to others. There are some surprises!
