The Author vividly describes the landscape, the plot and the dramatic and dark characters. There are secrets, betrayals, twists and turns, and heartbreak. I love the way Alison Ragsdale brings deep emotional issues to her books. Mairi feels helpless, when her sister Fiona needs a Kidney Transplant. Maira is pregnant, and after the last miscarriage has to be careful. Their mother, Helen, also has Kidney disease, and their father has passed away. Helen reveals a secret that the father the girls mourned and loved, might not be the biological father. Mairi is given the task to track the man that might be the father and possibly could provide the transplant.
Mairi sense that there is more than she is being told, but Fiona and Helen have not provided details.When Mairi tells her husband, Tom that she is looking for this person, he gets upset and worried because of the pregnancy. Mairi is concerned about saving her sister’s life. I would highly recommend this intense story.
