WOW! Tessa Wegert, The Author of “The River Runs Black: A North Country Novel” has written an exhilarating, intense, and thrilling novel. I love how Tessa Wegert combines details, law procedure, and layers of intense mystery. There are secrets, betrayals, drug use, kidnapping, danger, suspicious characters, criminal activity, twists and turns and murder. The author vividly discusses the scenes, the plot/s, and the dark, suspicious, dramatic, and dangerous characters. The location for this story is set in the North Country in upstate New York and mentions Canada. Many of the characters have been in other Tessa Wegert novels, that I highly suggest you read. Detective Tim Wellington and his Investigator wife Shana Merchant, and Police Officer Valerie Ott, and other Police have difficulties monitoring the vast, huge area. The former sheriff, “Mac” McIntyre is always helpful and there are new characters.
It is just around Halloween, and there has been one death to a High School Student who lives in the North Country, due to an overdose. When Police Officer Valerie Ott is walking with her daughter, Bobby,a High School Student, they spot a young woman who is barefoot and wearing a bikini, running in the street. Valerie Ott asks if the Young woman needs help, and she runs away. There are strange men and there are strange parties that are going on. Another young woman is reported missing. Bodies are being discovered. It is only when Bobby Ott disappears, that Police are getting frantic. Some characters are suspicious and others are dangerous! Good Luck figuring out who is responsible. This is an amazing, intriguing and intense thriller that I highly recommend.
