Beck Medina, the author of “All the Stars on Fire” has written a unique, creative and exciting novel for young adults, and older adults as well. The genres for this book are young adult, Paranormal, urban fantasy, Superhero Action and Adventure. The timeline for this story is set in the author’s present and goes back to the past when it pertains to the characters or events. The author describes her teenage characters as complex and complicated. Some of the characters are “good” and some are “evil”. I love that the author portrays some of the feminine characters as courageous and heroes.

So, do you want to be a hero? In the Morales family, two of the members, Natalia, and Max still have super-powers. Both of them keep it secretive from everyone. There had been a special program to encourage the teenagers to participate to have special powers, and when the lab closed down, the teens were given a pill to lose the powers. Alyse Morales knows that Natalia has the powers and is part of the Action Team that protects Angel City from Crime. There are some powers that the evil teens that want to have to maintain control.

The Super Heroes (of which Natalia belong to ) wear special costumes, and mostly solve crimes at night. Alyse follows her sister one night and gets hurt. Natalia has to promise Alyse that she will give up her dream and role as Super-hero. There is much to lose, and it just may be impossible for Natalia to keep her promise. I would recommend this entertaining read to others.
