Linda’s Book Obsession Reviews “The Wave” by Kristen Crusoe, Red Door Press, March 2021. On Tour with Suzy Approved Book Tours

Kristen Crusoe, the author of “The Wave” has written a unique, intriguing, and suspenseful novel. The genres for this book are Literary Fiction, and Suspense and Thriller. The timeline for this story is set in the author’s present, and goes to the past, with a possible glimpse at the future, when it pertains to the characters or events. The author describes her characters as complex and complicated as well as flawed. There is an essence of mystical expression in this story as well. The author discusses the road to redemption, second chances, communication, loyalty, and the importance of family and love.

On what starts to be a lovely day, for Clair, Adam and their 4 year old autistic child are at the beach. As Clair and Adam are arguing, their child seems to be swept away in an unusual wave at the beach. This symbolic and literal wave has taken the life of Clair and Adam’s son. Clair heads to the cold waters, hoping the wave will take her to her son, after attempting to poison Adam. Clair is in a psychiatric hospital, anticipating what will be her life or death.

Adam tries to make sense of what has gone on, and is willing not to press charges. As more tragedy enters their lives, there is a quest for answers and peace. I recommend this unusual and thought-provoking book to others.
