I loved everything about “The Alibi Club” by Carrie Talick. In this well written book, the Genres are : Satire Fiction, General Humorous Fiction, Humorous Fiction, Mystery, Suspense and Romance. The Author vividly describes the scenery, the plot, and the colorful and dramatic characters. The characters are complex, complicated, dysfunctional, quirky, with their own problems and motivations. What do you do when you are a 41 year old Forensic Psychologist with trauma, that needs a date immediately for her mother’s wedding, or face being disinherited? One of the Female Protagonists, Jamie Frisco, finds herself in the position of finding a date A.S.A.P. Ultimately, she looks into Online Dating, and discovers a group “Dinner for Six”. The Matchmaker of the group Lorna Gray, with her own motivations, has worked diligently to find six single characters to join this agenda. Cliff Weston, is a recently released paroled thief, is truly hopeful of working legitimately, in finding and correcting Burglar Alarm Systems. After all he was once one of the best at stealing things, until he got caught. He is looking for a date as well.
The six unusual singles meat at a restaurant with hope, and anxiety. When a bomb goes off, Cliff protects Jamie, SWAT and the Police arrive and have a lockdown of the restaurant, until they know what is going on. The whole area has a blackout, When the lights go on, it appears that there is one dead body. It appears that there was a major heist of a valuable artifact from one of the nearby homes. It appears that one of the people in the restaurant could be responsible. But who has the motive and opportunity?
In this captivating, and intriguing story, there are secrets, danger, entanglements, unpredictable events, criminal activity, threats, death and strange motivations. There are twists and turns, and I enjoyed and highly recommend this thought-provoking novel.
