Linda Sienkiewicz, the Author of “Love and Incurable Ailments” has written an entertaining, intriguing, and memorable fictional novel. The Author vividly describes the scenery, the landscape, the plot, and her colorful and dramatic characters. Using wit and empathy, the author describes the female protagonist, Serenity with anxiety, disabling panic disorder and various obsessions. Serenity has had a difficult life. She has lost both parents and has been brought up by her loving Aunt, and recently lost her beloved male cat named Margaret Thatcher. Near her Aunt’s store, she sees a woman throwing a box away in the dumpster. Serenity investigates and discovers that these are love notes and passionate letters, and is determined to find the writer of these letters. She leaves Michigan for Ocracoke Island, North Carolina. She purchases a weathered and run down house that needs fixing. I like that Serenity gives a daily update to how she is feeling.

In her quest, Serenity meets some quirky, complicated, complex and flawed people, but nevertheless seems to be happier. I appreciate how the Author describes the importance of finding and being yourself, the importance of friendship, family, community, second chances, love and hope. I highly recommend this book for others.
